THE OGUN State Government has announced plans to increase the number of teachers under its Ogun Teach Initiative from 4,000 to 6,000.

This measure aims to address the teacher-to-student ratio and improve the quality of education in public schools across the state.

Governor Dapo Abiodun made this disclosure at his office in Oke-Mosan during a visit by the management teams of Teach for All and Teach for Nigeria, who were in the state for a retreat.

He highlighted his administration’s commitment to strengthening the education sector, noting that the monthly wages of Ogun Teach interns have been increased to N80,000.

Governor Abiodun stated, “Our administration is determined to ensure that our students receive quality education.

“We have implemented key policy initiatives such as the Learners Identification Number and the Education Revitalisation Agenda, which have significantly enhanced the learning environment in Ogun State.”

He assured that the state would continue to collaborate with Teach for Nigeria, integrating their fellows into the Ogun Teach Initiative, provided they meet the state’s recruitment requirements.

The Chief Executive Officer of Teach for Nigeria, Mrs. Molade Adeniyi, commended the state government for its support and enabling environment for the programme.

She noted that the organisation is committed to ensuring that every child has access to quality education and recruits only qualified and passionate educators to achieve this goal.
