A DISTINGUISHED gathering of influential women leaders, policymakers, and advocates is set to take place at Access Bank’s International Women’s Day (IWD) Conference on Friday, 28 March 2025.

The annual event, themed “Accelerate Action, Inspiring Generations!”, aims to foster dialogue on women’s empowerment, leadership, and economic inclusion.

At the invitation of Access Bank, Zambia’s Vice President Mutale Nalumango will serve as the Special Guest of Honour, delivering a goodwill message to inspire attendees.

Her address is expected to emphasise the vital role of women in shaping the continent’s future, as well as the need for actionable strategies to accelerate gender equality.

Speaking ahead of the conference, Nalumango underscored the importance of tangible efforts to uplift women. “Empowering women goes beyond conversations—it demands real action. We must create pathways for young women to rise, lead, and transform their communities,” she stated.

The high-profile event will feature a series of panel discussions, networking sessions, and workshops with prominent speakers from business, politics, and social development sectors.

Attendees will engage in meaningful conversations on challenges and opportunities in advancing gender equity.

Access Bank, the conference’s host, expressed enthusiasm about Nalumango’s participation, recognising her as a symbol of resilience and leadership.

“Having Vice President Nalumango at this event will inspire countless women to take bold steps in their careers and communities. Her leadership is a testament to what is possible when women are empowered to lead,” a bank spokesperson noted.

The IWD Conference, a flagship initiative of Access Bank Nigeria, has consistently provided a platform to celebrate women’s achievements while addressing barriers to progress.

This year’s theme affirms the urgency of breaking societal limitations and fostering mentorship between established leaders and emerging changemakers.

According to the bank, with a growing global movement towards gender equity, this year’s gathering is poised to spark transformative discussions, policy recommendations, and impactful initiatives to empower women across Africa and beyond.
