COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT drove pivotal decisions at the All Progressives Congress (APC) ’s 14th National Executive Committee meeting in Abuja, where consensus saw Professor Nentawe Yilwatda chosen as the new National Chairman.
The meeting also extended the terms of zonal, state, council, and ward executives until 31 December 2025.
President Bola Tinubu also urged governors to heighten grassroots engagement by ensuring that community concerns drive progressive change. He emphasised that concrete action at the local level would solidify public trust and invigorate national development.
Addressing party members and political leaders, the President outlined the need for expanded membership and recommended that newly appointed officials actively register and integrate entrants nationwide.
He commended former National Chairman Dr Abdullahi Ganduje for his contributions and directed the formation of a dedicated committee to oversee the construction of a party secretariat in Abuja, symbolising a legacy of development.
Economic stabilisation and strengthened security also featured prominently in the President’s address.
He detailed a notable revenue increase, citing N14.9 trillion collected by the Federal Inland Revenue Service in the first half of the year, while affirming ongoing initiatives to neutralise terrorism and banditry.
Respect was also paid to prominent statesmen during moments of silent tribute, honouring former President Muhammadu Buhari alongside revered national figures whose contributions spanned beyond party lines.
