THE ALL Progressives Congress (APC) has picked Hon Damilola Sonayon-James as its Deputy Governorship Candidate for the 2027 Lagos State Governorship Election, pairing her with Governorship Candidate, Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, for the 2027 election in Lagos State.
JKNewsMedia.com reports that Sonayon-James currently serves as the state deputy woman leader of the APC.
She emerged following what party leaders described as an extensive consultation and selection process aimed at strengthening the party’s ticket.
Lagos State APC Chairman and Chairman of the Forum of 36 APC State Chairmen, Hon Cornelius Ojelabi, announced the decision, saying the choice reflects the party’s commitment to excellence, inclusiveness, loyalty, and service.
Ojelabi said the selection process considered competence, leadership capacity, grassroots acceptance, political experience, and the ability to contribute to the development of Lagos State.
He said Sonayon-James distinguished herself through commitment to service, dedication to the party, and leadership experience in public and private life.
Ojelabi described the Hamzat-Sonayon-James ticket as a combination of experience, innovation, energy, and leadership aimed at advancing Lagos State’s development agenda.

He urged residents to support the APC in the forthcoming election, saying a vote for the party represents continuity, prosperity, inclusive growth, and a greater Lagos.
Sonayon-James is a governance and development professional with more than 15 years of experience in public policy, institutional development, sustainability, risk governance, human capital strategy, stakeholder engagement, and community development.
She previously served as Supervisor for Agriculture and Social Services in Badagry West Local Council Development Area, where she led initiatives focused on agricultural development, women empowerment, youth inclusion, educational support, community welfare, and social intervention programmes.
She has also been involved in grassroots political mobilisation, women leadership development, youth empowerment, and community advocacy across Lagos State.
She is popularly known among supporters as “Sisi Eko of APC”.
The party said her emergence reinforces its commitment to inclusive leadership, youth participation, and women representation in governance.
It added that the selection reflects its vision of advancing Lagos as a centre of innovation, opportunity, and sustainable development.
