EVERY BLOOD donation could make a difference between life and death, a message at the heart of an upcoming humanitarian campaign seeking to boost blood availability and affordability in hospitals across Lagos.
JKNewsMedia.com reports that the initiative, known as WalDo, will hold on 18 November 2026 at Alausa, Ikeja, beginning with an awareness walk at 9am before participants move into a blood donation exercise.
Behind the campaign is Environmental Lagos Platform (ELP), a WhatsApp-based government and citizens’ group that seeks to bridge the gap between public needs and government service delivery.

Through the platform, information and interventions are channelled to where they are needed.
The group notes that WalDo represents one of the platform’s humanitarian efforts to make Lagos State a better place, with a particular focus on preserving lives through improved access to blood.
Working alongside the Lagos State Ministry of Health and the Lagos State Blood Transfusion Service, the organisers said it hopes to contribute to the on-demand availability of blood in hospitals while addressing the cost associated with accessing it.
On behalf of the group, Angel Tunde, said for residents who want to be part of the effort, the event promises more than a blood donation exercise.
He also said that social networking, participant rewards, talks and trade opportunities will feature, creating opportunities for people to connect while supporting a common humanitarian cause.
The organisers are also encouraging residents to wear the campaign’s T-shirts and caps as a show of support adding that participants can purchase the apparel through https://waldo.environmentallagos.org/waldo-apparel/.

They also said that after payment, buyers should send their receipts to +234 809 852 6854.
However, those willing to donate blood on the day will receive a free T-shirt and cap but they must first register through the dedicated blood donor form at https://waldo.environmentallagos.org/blood-donor-form/.
Tunde said that with the campaign bringing together public institutions, residents and a humanitarian platform, their message is straightforward: supporting the availability of blood is an opportunity to contribute to the preservation of lives.
And for them as the organisers, buying WalDo apparel is also a way of supporting a life.
