NEW APPLICATION fees for permanent residence and citizenship will take effect from April 30, 2026, following an approval by the Government of Canada affecting foreign nationals seeking to relocate.

JKNewsMedia.com reports that Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) disclosed in an official notice that the revised charges are part of routine updates aimed at sustaining efficient service delivery while keeping pace with inflation and rising operational costs.

“Starting April 30, 2026, fees for permanent resident applications will increase as part of a routine update. Applications received on or after April 30 will be subject to the new fees,” the agency stated.

Officials said the adjustment, unveiled on March 27, 2026, will apply to all applications received on or after the effective date, covering economic programmes, family sponsorship, humanitarian categories and business immigration streams.

“To continue delivering timely, reliable services and keep pace with inflation, permanent residence fees will increase on April 30, 2026,” the agency stated.

Under the revised structure, the Right of Permanent Residence Fee (RPTF) will increase by $25 from $575 to $600. Fees under the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) will rise by $40 from $950 to $990, while business immigration fees will increase from $1,810 to $1,895.

Family class sponsorship applications will increase by $25 from $545 to $570. Fees for protected persons and applicants under humanitarian and compassionate grounds or public policy measures will rise from $635 to $660.

Permit holder applications will increase from $375 to $390.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada stated that the adjustments are conducted every two years under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations to offset programme costs and respond to growing demand.

JKNewsMedia.com reports that applications submitted before April 30, 2026, will be processed under the current fee structure, while those received on or after that date will attract the new rates.

The agency also stated that the Right of Citizenship Fee (RCF) will increase from $119.75 to $123 beginning March 31, 2026, noting that the citizenship application fee will rise by about 2.7 percent.
