SUBSTANDARD PROJECTS in Delta State will no longer go unnoticed, as Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has directed political appointees to lead the charge in exposing contractors who fail to deliver quality work.

He stressed that reporting such infractions would help enforce accountability and improve governance.

Speaking during the swearing-in of Senator Ighoyota Amori as his Chief Adviser at the Unity Hall, Government House, Asaba, the governor highlighted the importance of video recordings and detailed reports to flag contractors who violate project agreements.

He stated that appointees must serve as watchdogs to ensure that infrastructural projects meet required standards.

“Governance is all about teamwork, and all hands must be on deck to achieve our goals,” Oborevwori declared. He reaffirmed his commitment to transparency, fiscal discipline, and sustained infrastructural renewal, ensuring the state gets full value for its investments.

The governor disclosed plans to introduce a hotline where residents can directly report substandard projects, a move aimed at strengthening public engagement in governance. “This initiative will enable us to track and address cases of shoddy work, ensuring that government funds are utilised efficiently,” he added.

Oborevwori praised Senator Amori’s contributions to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State and his dedication to public service. He expressed confidence in Amori’s ability to offer sound policy guidance in advancing the state’s development agenda.

The newly appointed Chief Adviser pledged his commitment to supporting the governor’s drive for socio-economic and infrastructural growth.

Amori called on Deltans to back the administration’s efforts in building a more accountable and prosperous state.

The governor reiterated that political appointees must stay connected with their communities, gathering feedback and educating residents about government policies.

He warned that performance monitoring would be a key determinant in assessing their effectiveness in office.

With these measures, the governor adds that the Delta State government aims to eliminate wasteful spending, hold contractors accountable, and ensure that development projects deliver tangible benefits to the people.
