Introduction:

Security concerns surrounding Nigeria’s 2027 elections have placed the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) among areas requiring heightened attention, with the metropolitan city accounting for 50 per cent of eight observations in a threat-tracking analysis. The graphic, which identifies extremist and criminal threats ahead of the polls, attributes 37.5 per cent of observations to multiple states and 12.5 per cent to Delta State.

Analysts have urged stakeholders to intensify peace initiatives and efforts to reduce tensions before, during and after the elections. The figures represent eight observations, not a comprehensive measure of threat levels nationwide, and the graphic does not specify the individual incidents behind them.

Report:

FOR THE city of power, security threats to the elections remain significant factors for stakeholders to consider.

In our latest tracking, we found that half of the eight observations identified the FCT as a location to watch before, during and after the elections.

The analysis points to possible extremist and criminal threats in the city. On this basis, our analysts once again called on concerned stakeholders to intensify peace initiatives and activities necessary to eliminate tensions across the country.
