The Minister encouraged Nigerians to observe the day by reflecting on Buhari’s legacy, promoting peace and patriotism, and advancing national cohesion in line with his vision for the country.
The government earlier directed that national flags fly at half-mast for seven days, beginning Sunday, 13 July.
The remains of the former President are scheduled to arrive in Nigeria from London by noon on Tuesday.
He will be buried in his hometown, Daura, in accordance with Islamic rites.
President Tinubu directed Vice President Kashim Shettima and Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila to accompany the body back home and convey condolences to the Buhari family.
