Fubara Validates New CMD Amid Health Sector Revival

RIVERS State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has officially endorsed the appointment of Chizindu Alikor as the substantive Chief Medical Director (CMD) of Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH).

The appointment was confirmed during a meeting with delegates from the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) led by Uche Ojinmah, the National President, at the state government house in Port Harcourt, which was also communicated in a statement issued by Fubara’s Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Nelson Chukwudi, on Friday.

Chukwudi emphasized the governor’s commitment to improving the well-being of citizens through various projects initiated within the state, adding that Gov Fubara is dedicated to revitalizing the health segment, and stressed the importance of providing quality healthcare services accessible to all residents and sectors in Rivers State.

Acknowledging the challenges of the health sector, Fubara highlighted his government’s efforts in rebuilding dilapidated hospitals and transitioning from intermediary services to zonal hospitals, assuring that the welfare of healthcare workers in a priority for his administration.

Uche Ojinmah, NMA National President, commended what he described as positive developments witnessed in the health sector under Fubara, stressing improvements since he assumed office. He said it was good the governor rescued the health sector from a state of collapse.

Also, Ebi Robinson, NMA State Chairman, thanked the governor for the progress made in enhancing the healthcare services across the state.

The validation of Chizindu Alikor’s appointment, Chukwudi noted, marks a significant step towards strengthening healthcare delivery, pinpointing Fubara’s commitment to improving the overall well-being of citizens across Rivers state.
