RECOGNITION CAME for one of Africa’s most accomplished investigative journalists as Dr George Elijah Otumu, Executive Editor and Group Managing Director of Naija Standard Newspaper Inc., USA, received the prestigious honour as Most Outstanding Nigerian World Class Editor in the Diaspora 2025 on Wednesday, October 1, 2025.

The award ceremony drew an array of dignitaries, including captains of industry, senior government functionaries from federal and state levels, members of the diplomatic corps, traditional rulers, and representatives from both local and international media. Guests described the event as a fitting tribute to excellence in journalism and leadership.

A major highlight of the evening was the presentation of awards to distinguished entrepreneurs who had excelled in their respective fields.

The occasion reached its emotional peak when Dr Otumu was accorded a warm reception following the conferment of his award, marking a defining moment in his career and in the recognition of African journalism excellence abroad.

Delivering his acceptance remarks, Dr Otumu used the platform to invoke moral and spiritual reflections on the sanctity of human life. “The Holy Scripture says God Almighty is the giver of life.

He emphasised that peace could only be sustained through coexistence, urging that the international community adopt the long-proposed two-state solution.

“As proposed by the United Nations and other nations of the world, the solution is having the State of Israel stand aside others,” he stated.

In closing, Dr Otumu appealed for the protection of journalists covering conflicts worldwide.
