Nigerian workers have been advised by the Globacom Telecommunications to use the May Day celebration as a moment of rededication to national service and progress.

In a message commemorating the 2024 International Workers’ Day, the company described 1 May as a significant date that recognises the pivotal role of the workforce in Nigeria’s socio-economic growth.

“Workers’ Day stands as a tribute to the courage, resilience, and enduring spirit of Nigerian workers,” the statement read. “Your efforts are the bedrock of national development.”

The company lauded the strength and loyalty demonstrated by the country’s labour force across all sectors, despite the economic headwinds facing the nation.

It noted that the commitment of Nigerian workers continues to fuel critical milestones in infrastructure, innovation, and institutional growth.

Globacom encouraged workers to remain focused and resilient in the face of adversity, stressing the importance of sustained dedication to excellence.

The company urged the nation’s workforce to view May Day not merely as a celebration, but as a reminder of their power to transform Nigeria into a benchmark of progress.

Widely recognised around the world as Labour Day, 1 May is set aside annually to celebrate the achievements and impact of workers in driving economic advancement and societal wellbeing.
