REDEFINING HOW students connect, Globacom has introduced Gloshare and a Mobile Community Plan to Kwara State University (KWASU), to collaborate, and learn.
The digital rollout—pioneered through the company’s Enterprise Unit—marks the first deployment of such a system in any Nigerian tertiary institution.
Held at KWASU’s Malete campus in Ilorin, the launch showcased Gloshare as a platform enabling students to access the university portal and download educational materials without consuming personal data.
Alongside this, the Mobile Community Plan places students and staff on a unified network, allowing subscribers within the university community to engage freely and efficiently.
Mr Adewale Adiatu, Enterprise Southwest Regional Head, stated that Gloshare was purpose-built to enhance academic access and support collaborative learning, especially for data-sensitive students.
He added that the Mobile Community Plan would create a digital environment where seamless academic and social communication can flourish.
Mr Adeniyi Odejobi, Enterprise National Vertical Head at Glo Enterprise Sales, confirmed that multiple communication sites had been installed across the campus, with several others nearing completion.
The infrastructure, he said, ensures reliable performance of both Gloshare and the CUG platform.
Vice Chancellor Prof Shaykh Luqman Jimoh described the occasion as a landmark in KWASU’s drive toward digital innovation.
He said the twin initiatives resonated strongly with the event’s theme, Redefining Leadership in the Age of AI: Students as Innovators, Volunteers and Changemakers, and represented the forward-thinking spirit within the student body.
“These initiatives are homegrown, tailored to the needs, and emblematic of the innovative spirit that resides within our student body,” he noted.
Student Union Government President Mallam Abdulafeez Babatunde Kewulere thanked Globacom for selecting KWASU as the pioneer institution for the services.
He urged students to adopt the tools to enhance both their academic journeys and digital competencies, calling the project a bold step towards a more connected academic future.
