A major boost to economic and social connectivity was achieved on Saturday as Governor Siminalayi Fubara inaugurated the 14.1 km Umuakali-Eberi-Omodu road project in Rivers State.

The road, which links Omuma Local Government Area to neighbouring Abia State, is expected to enhance trade, improve transportation, and foster cultural exchange in the region.

The commissioning event, held at the State School 11 Field in the Obibi Umuogba community, saw Governor Fubara lauded by Senator Bala Mohammed, Governor of Bauchi State, who described him as a “performer par excellence.”

Governor Fubara noted that the project represents a significant milestone in his rural transformation agenda.

He commended the judiciary for upholding justice and expressed confidence in its role as the protector of citizens’ rights.

Addressing residents, he pledged to rehabilitate the dilapidated school, health centre, and general hospital in Omuma. Internal roads in the community would also be reconstructed.

The traditional ruler of Eberi-Omuma Kingdom, Eze Onyekachi Amaonwu, conferred the title “Nwanne di na mba” on Governor Fubara in recognition of his efforts.

The governor thanked the people of Omuma for their support and urged them to remain peaceful and law-abiding.

Governor Mohammed, who performed the ribbon-cutting, admitted he had underestimated Governor Fubara’s administration, citing his leadership style and active participation in the Governors’ Forum.

He also took the opportunity to call on President Bola Tinubu and the Federal Government to prioritise peaceful governance for effective administration.

Chairman of Omuma LGA, Promise Reginald, lauded the governor for fostering inclusivity and development in the area.

The road project, a symbol of collaboration and progress, underscores Governor Fubara’s determination to improve the lives of Rivers State residents.
