THE ENDURING peace and stability in Rivers State must inspire collective efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s unity, Governor Siminalayi Fubara has said.

He emphasised this on Wednesday during the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration at the Government House, Port Harcourt, before proceeding to Isaac Adaka Boro Park for the ceremonial parades.

Governor Fubara praised security agencies for their collaboration with the government to maintain order in the state, attributing their success to divine grace.

He urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and steadfast in the quest for enduring peace and security across the country.

“We must ensure that every section of our country feels included and valued, fostering a stronger and more cohesive nation,” Fubara said.

He pledged his administration’s continued support for security agencies to ensure they deliver effective services.

Acknowledging President Bola Tinubu’s efforts to modernise the armed forces and prioritise the welfare of servicemen, the Governor reaffirmed his loyalty and commitment to the Federal Government.

He reflected on the nation’s resilience during the civil war and highlighted the critical role of the armed forces in combating terrorism and insurgency while safeguarding Nigeria’s sovereignty.

As a show of support for families of fallen heroes, Governor Fubara pledged ₦50 million to assist widows and alleviate economic hardships.

“This is to ease their burden and honour the sacrifices made by their loved ones,” he noted.

The acting chairman of the Nigeria Legion, Rivers State Chapter, ACC Kuu Aminkipo Promise, expressed gratitude to the Governor for his financial support, recognising it as a significant step towards easing the legionnaires’ financial challenges.
