THE TRAGIC incident at a children’s funfair in Ibadan, which claimed several young lives and left many injured, has prompted a strong response from President Bola Tinubu.

He expressed deep sorrow over the event, offering his heartfelt condolences to the families, the Government, and the people of Oyo State.

The President has directed an urgent and thorough investigation to uncover the cause of the tragedy, emphasising the need for transparency.

Authorities have been instructed to determine whether negligence or deliberate actions played a role in the incident.

Tinubu urged the Oyo State Government to take immediate steps to prevent similar occurrences.

He called for a comprehensive review of public event safety measures, stricter enforcement of safety regulations, and routine safety audits of event venues.

He further appealed to event organisers to prioritise the safety of children, stressing the need for professional security, protocols, and logistics to protect attendees.

“Our children’s safety is paramount. No event should ever jeopardise their lives,” he stated through his Special Adviser, Bayo Onanuga.
