A SUPPLEMENTARY Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) has been scheduled for 24,535 candidates to be conducted on Saturday, June 22, 2024.
This decision was communicated in a statement released by Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) through its spokesperson, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, in Abuja on Sunday.
JAMB also announced it has released an additional 3,921 results from the 2024 UTME.
The spokesperson explained that the rescheduled examination will provide the affected candidates with sufficient time to prepare.
Among those slated for the supplementary exam are students from the Kwara State College of Arabic and Islamic Legal Studies (CAILS) and Kwara State University (KWASU) involved in the CAILS-KWASU Diploma programme.
Additionally, 20,550 candidates whose results were under investigation and 2,702 candidates with unverifiable fingerprints will have another opportunity to sit for the 2024 UTME.
Furthermore, Dr. Benjamin noted that 322 candidates had been identified as engaging in examination misconduct and were found to have registered for the exam but did not personally take it, resulting in an increase in the number of candidates involved in misconduct to 431.
Dr. Benjamin stated that the Board had thoroughly reviewed the conduct of the examination in various centers and identified substantial non-compliance with JAMB’s standards.
As a result, these candidates will retake their exams in their chosen examination towns on June 22.
Candidates can check their updated status by sending “RESULT” to 55019 or 66019 starting from Saturday, June 1, 2024, adding that those rescheduled for the supplementary exam will receive notification accordingly.
Dr. Benjamin advised the affected candidates to print their supplementary examination notification slips from Tuesday, June 4, 2024, to confirm their designated exam centers. He clarified that this notice does not affect candidates whose results had been previously released.
Addressing the Direct Entry (DE) registration, Dr. Benjamin announced that the 2024 DE registration will close on Monday, June 17, 2024, following pleas from stakeholders for an extension.
He said to accommodate the high demand, JAMB has expanded registration points beyond its Professional Registration Centres (PRCs).
Specific registration points have been set up in Lagos, Oyo, Kwara, and Osun states to facilitate the registration process and they include JAMB PRCs in various locations and several other approved centers.
Additionally, he said that JAMB has arranged a special registration exercise for 3,633 prospective candidates from the CAILS-KWASU Diploma programme who missed the 2024 UTME, allowing them to register within one week at approved CBT centers in Kwara, Oyo, or Osun States.
He also emphasized that 469 candidates from this group who had already taken the UTME need not retake it.
The spokesperson then reiterated JAMB’s commitment to maintaining standards while also supporting the aspirations of qualified candidates and stressed that no further extensions for DE registration would be entertained while urging all eligible candidates to take advantage of the current registration window.
