PUBLIC UNIVERSITIES across Nigeria must complete admissions for the 2025/2026 academic session before October 31, 2026, following a directive issued by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) during its 2026 Annual Policy Meeting on Admissions into Tertiary Institutions held in Abuja on Monday.

JKNewsMedia.com reports that the meeting brought together vice chancellors, rectors, provosts and other education officials to discuss admission procedures and timelines for tertiary institutions across the country.

JAMB Registrar, Ishaq Oloyede, said the timelines were introduced to make the admission process more organised and ensure that tertiary institutions follow a uniform system.

Under the arrangement announced at the meeting, private universities are expected to conclude admissions on or before November 30, while polytechnics, colleges of education and other tertiary institutions must complete theirs not later than December 31.

JAMB also announced sanctions for institutions that fail to meet the approved deadlines. The board stated that schools that do not complete admissions within the stipulated period would lose access to candidates on the Central Admission Processing System.

Fresh conditions were also introduced for candidates offered admission through CAPS. Candidates now have four weeks to either accept or reject any admission offer issued to them.

JKNewsMedia.com also reports that JAMB said any admission not accepted within the approved period could be removed once the institution requests it.

JAMB further warned that candidates who reject admission offers could face sanctions that may prevent them from being considered for another admission in the future.
