INSTITUTIONS HAVE been directed to accelerate the processing of admissions for the 2026/2027 academic session after the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) restored its Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS), following a temporary disruption.
JKNewsMedia.com reports that JAMB announced on Monday, September 28, 2026, that CAPS had been fully restored and was operational, urging institutions to recover lost time and work towards the approved deadlines for the admission exercise.
The board also advised candidates to monitor their admission status and promptly accept admission offers made to them through the appropriate channels.
It says that public universities must complete their admission processes by October 31, 2026, while private universities have until November 30, 2026. Other tertiary institutions have been given until December 31, 2026, to conclude their admissions.
JAMB also said the deadlines come as institutions continue processing admissions for candidates seeking places for the 2026/2027 academic session, with public universities facing the earliest deadline.
It further urged candidates who had previously indicated that they were awaiting examination results to upload or verify their credentials following the release of the 2026 National Examinations Council Senior School Certificate Examination results.
The board said the step would ensure that candidates’ academic credentials are available for consideration as institutions intensify their admission processes.
JKNewsMedia.com also reports that JAMB said candidates whose admission consideration depends on the availability and verification of their O’Level results were specifically advised not to delay the upload or verification of their credentials.
JAMB affirmed that properly reflected credentials would enable institutions to access the required information during the ongoing admission exercise.
However, the board expressed regret over the inconvenience caused by the temporary disruption of CAPS and thanked candidates, institutions and other stakeholders for their patience and understanding.
It adds that with the system now operational, institutions and candidates are urged to proceed with the admission process and complete all necessary steps within the approved timelines.
