THE LAGOS State House of Assembly has approved the reordering of the N2.26 trillion 2024 budget.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu made the request in a letter dated August 9, 2024, to adjust the allocations for recurrent and capital expenditures.

On Thursday, the House passed the amendment after the Committee on Economic Planning and Budget, led by Hon. Lukman Olumoh, presented its report.

The lawmakers agreed to reduce the recurrent expenditure from N952.4 billion to N935.4 billion, while capital expenditure increased from N1.31 trillion to N1.33 trillion.

Speaker Mudashiru Obasa announced the final resolution and directed the Clerk of the House, Barr.

Olalekan Onafeko, to send the bill for the Governor’s assent. The amendment aims to strengthen funding for key ministries, agencies, and parastatals.

In a related event at the House, Speaker Obasa expressed the Assembly’s support for the Nigerian Army during a visit by Brigadier General Olawale Matthew Oyekola, Commander of the 9 Brigade.

Obasa assured the Army of collaboration to maintain peace across Lagos.

General Oyekola emphasized the importance of the military’s role in supporting security efforts in the state.

He requested continued backing from Lagosians to keep the state safe, highlighting the Army’s close connection to the public.
