VOTERS IN Lagos can now use QR codes to locate designated Permanent Voter Card (PVC) collection centres as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) steps up preparations for the 2027 general elections.

JKNewsMedia.com reports that the Commission said voters can scan the QR codes through its social media handles and website to identify their designated collection centres.

Speaking at a press conference at INEC’s headquarters in Lagos on Tuesday, the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Professor Ayobami Salami, urged eligible voters to collect their PVCs, verify their registration details and rely on official information as preparations for the elections intensify.

Salami said preparations for the 2027 general elections in Lagos State were in top gear, with the Commission working to procure and test voter accreditation devices, improve election result transmission systems, strengthen logistics, and recruit and train election personnel.

INEC has also revised the timetable and schedule of activities for the elections following the repeal of the Electoral Act, 2022, and the enactment of the Electoral Act, 2026, which introduced changes to statutory timelines governing pre-election and electoral activities.

The Commission had initially scheduled the Presidential and National Assembly Elections for Saturday, 20 February 2027, and the Governorship and State Houses of Assembly Elections for Saturday, 6 March 2027.

However, INEC said it had reviewed and realigned the dates to ensure compliance with the new legal framework.

JKNewsMedia.com also reports that under the revised timetable, INEC said the Presidential and National Assembly Elections will now take place on Saturday, 16 January 2027, while the Governorship and State Houses of Assembly Elections will hold on Saturday, 6 February 2027.
