IKEJA GOLF Club has been sealed off by the Lagos State government, citing severe public safety concerns.

The Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) announced this decisive action following repeated complaints and incidents caused by the club’s negligence.

The agency closed the club on Wednesday after a stray golf ball from the premises struck a Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) employee at their Ikeja headquarters, raising alarm over the risks posed by the club’s operations.

A statement from LASBCA’s Director of Public Affairs, Adu Ademuyiwa, explained that errant golf balls had damaged vehicles in the surrounding area on multiple occasions, further endangering public safety.

The statement also stressed that the negligence exhibited by the club endangers individuals and property in the area.

Arc. Gbolahan Owodunni Oki, LASBCA’s General Manager, criticized the Ikeja Golf Club for ignoring warnings and failing to implement essential protective measures, such as protective netting or redesigned play zones.

He expressed frustration at the club’s lack of corrective action, emphasizing that the closure was necessary to safeguard residents and visitors from further hazards.

LASBCA stressed its commitment to enforcing safety regulations to prevent further incidents.
