NOT LESS than 18 warehouses in Bida, Niger State, has been shut down by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) after uncovering expired food and beverages valued at over N100 million.
A statement signed by Sayo Akintola, Resident Media Consultant, on February 19, 2026, said the warehouses, located around Ndazabo White House along Minna Road and behind Bida Modern Market, were sealed after the agency’s Investigation and Enforcement team acted on credible intelligence.
JKNewsMedia.com reports that recovered items included expired non-alcoholic beverages, dairy milk, candies, bottled water and pasta, some already packaged for distribution.
About 80,000 packets of expired drinks, 5,000 packets of dairy milk, 16,000 packets of bottled water, 28 cartons of pasta and other assorted products were seized, NAFDAC said.
Warehouse managers were arrested for interrogation, with preliminary findings linking the facilities to BY Ventures. NAFDAC extended its operation to the company’s supermarkets in Minna, where additional expired products and counterfeit Goya oil were allegedly found.
Both supermarkets were sealed, while Managing Director Alhaji Yusuf Nadabo was invited for questioning and reportedly admitted ownership of the expired goods.
NAFDAC confirmed investigations are ongoing, and regulatory sanctions would follow to deter similar violations, JKNewsMedia.com.
