ILLICIT DRUG consignments concealed in water purifier machines shipped from the Netherlands to Lagos have been uncovered by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), while officers also intercepted military grade ammunition in Kaduna and arrested suspected drug traffickers in separate operations.
JKNewsMedia.com reports that the illicit drug consignments, comprising 3 kilogrammes of ketamine and 199 grams of MDMA, also known as Ecstasy pills, were discovered and seized at a courier company in Lagos on Tuesday 26 May 2026 which had all been carefully hidden inside water purifier machines.

In Kaduna State, NDLEA operatives note that it arrested a couple, Musa and Mercy Sunday, alongside another suspect, Salomi Ezekiel, 38, following the seizure of 100 jumbo bags of skunk weighing 1,246 kilogrammes from their residence in the Gonin Gora area on Sunday 24 May.
On the same day, NDLEA officers on patrol along the Abuja Kaduna highway near Jere intercepted a 30-year-old suspect, Sunusi Musa, with 380 rounds of military grade RLA 7.62mm ammunition reportedly bound for Katsina State.
The suspect and the ammunition were handed over to the appropriate security agency for further action.

In Niger State, operatives acting on intelligence raided a warehouse in Gidan Kukah, Bosso Local Government Area, where they recovered 457 kilogrammes of skunk on Wednesday 27 May. A suspect, Godwin Zakka, 46, was arrested at his residence in Gbeganu, Minna, in connection with the seizure.
JKNewsMedia.com also reports that in Enugu State, operatives on patrol along the Onitsha Enugu Expressway on Thursday 28 May intercepted a commercial vehicle marked JAY 158 YF travelling to Taraba State.
NDLEA said a search of the vehicle led to the recovery of 22,000 tramadol pills, 100 ampoules of pentazocine and 200 grams of bromazepam. A suspect, James Maigari Wisdom, was arrested.
The Agency’s commands and formations across the country also continued their War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) sensitisation activities during the week which included enlightenment lectures for students and staff of Government Secondary School, Adiabo, Cross River State; St Patrick’s Memorial College, Wukari, Taraba State; Roman Catholic Mission Nursery and Primary School, Ibeju Lekki, Lagos State; and Kings Secondary School, Amawbia, Anambra State.
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, Brig Gen Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), commended officers and personnel of the Kaduna, Niger and Enugu Commands as well as those of DOGI for the arrests and seizures.
He also appreciated their drug supply reduction efforts alongside WADA sensitisation activities and charged them and their colleagues across the country not to rest on their laurels.
