LAGOS STATE University (LASU) is set for a new leadership as the state government has approved the appointment of Professor Badejo Ayodeji Olawunmi as the 10th Vice-Chancellor.
JKNewsMedia.com reports that the appointment was announced by Gbenga Omotoso, Lagos Commissioner for Information and Strategy, in a statement issued on Wednesday, September 9, 2026.
Professor Badejo Ayodeji Olawunmi is succeeding Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, whose five-year tenure is set to expire.

Olatunji-Bello is retiring after completing her five-year tenure, paving the way for Olawunmi to take over the leadership of the university.
A professor of Guidance and Counselling, Olawunmi was born on August 4, 1962.
The press statement notes that she obtained a Ph.D. in Guidance and Counselling and a Master of Education in Guidance and Counselling from the same institution she is now heading.
