OPERATIVES OF the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have recovered more than 7.6 million tramadol pills and 76,273.4 kilograms of cannabis, including strains such as Colorado, Skunk, and Loud, during intelligence-led operations across the country.

Several members of drug trafficking organisations linked to the seizures were arrested, the agency stated.

Delta state accounted for a significant portion of the opioids seized.

At a warehouse in Oko Market, Asaba, officers recovered 3,874,000 pills of tramadol in 225mg and 100mg formulations, alongside 252.2 litres of codeine syrup, on Saturday, 6th December 2025.

In Imo state, NDLEA intercepted a vehicle along Orogwe, Onitsha-Owerri Road on Wednesday, 3rd December, recovering 1.2 million tramadol 225mg tablets from a suspect, Kelechi Nwakocha, 35.

The consignment had been loaded in Aba, Abia state, and was en route to Onitsha, Anambra state.

Adamawa state saw the interception of a Toyota Hiace bus along Maraba-Mubi road on Monday, 1st December.

The vehicle, travelling from Jos in Plateau state to Mubi, carried 1,577,112 tramadol capsules and Exol-5 tablets concealed in jumbo bags mixed with new sandals and slippers.

Two suspects, Kabiru Buba, 25, and Hamza Abubakar, 32, were arrested.

Another seizure in Kano state involved 197,000 Exol-5 pills recovered from a suspect, Mudansir Rabiu, 27, along Zaria-Kano Road.

Femi Babafemi, Director of Media and Advocacy at NDLEA Headquarters, Abuja, confirmed the operations and arrests in a statement on Sunday, 7th December 2025, adding that special operations in Ekiti state targeted forests and warehouses linked to illicit cannabis.

In Omuo-Ekiti, operatives destroyed 14,654 kilograms of Skunk and arrested two suspects, Yusuf Iliyasu, 50, and Okumu Chinedu, 26.

Further raids in Asin-Ekiti, Ikole LGA, resulted in the destruction of 54,300 kilograms of Skunk in two large warehouses and the recovery of 28.3 kilograms for prosecution.

Ondo state operations yielded 2,483 compressed blocks and 247 bags of Skunk, totalling 5,442 kilograms, from Igoba forest in Akure North LGA.

Five suspects were apprehended: Jacob Omodowo, 66; Joy Oluatobi Peace, 24; Babatunde Olamide, 40; Echi Fidelis Joseph, 57; and Ankrah Akano, 56.

Niger state authorities recovered 500 kilograms of Skunk from a Mercedes-Benz van along Mokwa-Jebba road on 4th December, detaining the driver, Amos Yakubu, 46.

The Federal Capital Territory also recorded seizures, including 22 kilograms of Colorado cannabis at Abaji expressway, followed by the arrest of a female receiver, Ali Blessing, 33, at Jabi Park.

Another FCT operation along Kwali-Gwagwalada expressway recovered 24 kilograms of Skunk and 573,500 Exol-5 pills, leading to the arrest of Aliyu Usman, 39.

Lagos state accounted for multiple recoveries. Officers seized 217 pouches of Canadian Loud, weighing 113 kilograms, from Ezenwa Udoka at Ladipo Market, Mushin.

On 5th December, Izuchukwu Usulor was arrested with 351 kilograms of Skunk at Onipanu, while Susan Okoro was detained with 104.1 kilograms at Trade Fair Complex, Ojo.

Additional seizures in Isiefve community, Ohuwunde LGA, included 315.8 kilograms of Skunk and the detention of Stanley Obasuwa.

NDLEA continued to combine enforcement with public awareness. The agency’s War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) initiatives engaged schools, worship centres, workplaces, and communities.

Activities last week included sensitisation lectures at St Michael’s Academy, Sabon Gari, Kano; Harry Pass Secondary School, Masaje, Gboko LGA, Benue; and Community Junior Secondary School, Okuru-Ama, Obio/Akpor LGA, Rivers state.
