A NEW agreement between Nigeria and China is set to strengthen media operations through advanced technology transfer and training.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Media Exchange and Cooperation was signed by both countries, aiming to enhance collaboration between Nigeria’s media sector and China’s state-of-the-art media technology.

Minister of Information and Technology, Mohammed Idris, revealed this during a briefing, following his recent trip to China where he signed the MoU on behalf of Nigeria.

He highlighted that China’s progress in media technology presents a unique opportunity for Nigeria to improve its media infrastructure and personnel skills.

The Minister explained that the agreement includes provisions for training Nigerian media personnel, helping with the procurement of new equipment, and its operationalization back home.

Idris added that the partnership would allow for information exchange between both countries, benefiting Nigeria through access to cutting-edge technology and expertise.

China’s willingness to share its media advancements, according to Idris, shows a commitment to fostering stronger ties in media collaboration, training programmes, and other cooperative efforts that will benefit both nations.
