NIGERIA HAS congratulated Donald Trump on his inauguration as the 47th President of the United States.

The Nigerian government reaffirmed that its partnership with the U.S. remains central to international relations and pledged to strengthen ties for mutual benefit.

In a press statement issued on Tuesday, 21st January 2025, the Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs extended warm congratulations to President Trump on his successful inauguration.

The ministry emphasised the longstanding partnership between both nations, rooted in shared goals such as promoting good governance, sustainable development, and countering terrorism and violent extremism.

The statement further highlighted Nigeria’s readiness to deepen cooperation across diverse sectors of mutual interest.

“Nigeria and the United States of America have enjoyed historic ties marked by vibrant strategic collaboration. We remain dedicated to advancing this relationship for the benefit of our people,” the ministry stated.

The announcement also stressed the pivotal role both nations play in global efforts to tackle security challenges and promote socio-economic progress.

The Federal Republic of Nigeria reaffirmed its commitment to fostering bilateral relationships with the United States under President Trump’s leadership. Nigeria anticipates that the shared values of democracy, human rights, and economic cooperation will drive further collaboration.

The press release, signed by Acting Spokesperson Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, stresses Nigeria’s proactive diplomacy in aligning with the priorities of its international partners.
