RECOGNITION FOR Nigeria’s Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie reached new heights after she was ranked the fourth-best women’s goalkeeper in the world at the 2025 Ballon d’Or awards in Paris.

The organisers of the prestigious awards released the final rankings on Monday, placing Nnadozie among the top five goalkeepers globally.

The ranking placed her behind Hannah Hampton, Ann-Katrin Berger and Cata Coll, who secured the top three spots.

Nnadozie, who recently completed a move to Brighton & Hove Albion Women from Paris FC, has built a reputation as one of Africa’s most consistent and reliable shot-stoppers.

Her performances in Europe and for the Super Falcons have been central to her rise on the international stage, earning her recognition alongside the world’s elite.

Her journey to the award stage in Paris underscored her growing influence in the women’s game. Having established herself at Paris FC before her transfer to England, she has shown adaptability and resilience, maintaining top form across competitions.

The Ballon d’Or awards ceremony in Paris highlighted the global appreciation of talent across football. For Nnadozie, the recognition reflects years of steady performances, both for club and country.

Her inclusion in the top five signals the progress of Nigerian players on the world stage and provides further acknowledgment of African excellence in women’s football.

While she did not take the top three positions, her fourth-place finish marked one of the highest recognitions for a Nigerian goalkeeper in the history of the award.

The announcement placed her alongside some of the most celebrated names in the sport, strengthening her standing as a role model for aspiring players in Nigeria and across the continent.

Her recent move to Brighton is seen as another opportunity to test her abilities in one of Europe’s competitive leagues.

The English Women’s Super League offers a platform that continues to elevate African players and Nnadozie’s performances there are expected to keep her in global conversations.

At only 24, she has already made a significant impact in her career, and her recognition in Paris adds to her growing list of achievements.

For Nigerian football, her ranking at the Ballon d’Or serves as an example of progress and international recognition at a time when African representation is increasingly visible in the sport.

However, with her feat, the Ballon d’Or awards ceremony once again underlined the importance of celebrating excellence in football at all levels.

And for Chiamaka Nnadozie, it has cemented her place among the best, reflecting her dedication, professionalism and performances that have brought her consistent global attention.
