DEPLORABLE ROADS in Ifo Local Government Area are set for a transformation as the Ogun State Government prepares to award contracts for the construction of the Alagbole-Akute and Akute-Oke Aro-Ijoko roads within two weeks.

The announcement was made by Governor Dapo Abiodun during the commissioning of the Ojodu-Abiodun-Denro-Ishasi-Akute Road.

Governor Abiodun outlined plans to extend the 32-kilometer Akute-Oke Aro-Ijoko road, noting that 15 kilometers had already been completed from Sango.

He emphasized the project’s importance, stating, “Connecting this road completes a critical loop for Akute, Ajuwon, and Alagbole communities. It enhances mobility and development.”

The governor also announced that the Toyin-Giwa, Akute-Ajuwon, and Akute-Alagbole roads would be commissioned in three months.

He commended the quality of ongoing construction and urged residents to maintain the infrastructure, highlighting the economic and social benefits of the projects.

Speaking on the newly commissioned Ojodu-Abiodun-Denro-Ishasi-Akute Road, Governor Abiodun said it was vital for easing transportation, improving access to Lagos State, and revitalizing economic activities in the region.

“This road was in terrible shape. Its reconstruction affirms our commitment to making this local government a hub of opportunities,” he said.

Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ade Akinsanya, praised the new 4.65-kilometer road and its 30-meter bridge as vital to enhancing connectivity and economic growth.

Similarly, the Ifo Local Government Chairman, Hon. Idris Kusimo, described the project as a catalyst for restoring commercial activity to the area.

Hon. Adijat Adeleye, Commissioner for Women Affairs, noted that the road, originally constructed 15 years ago, was unusable after flooding damaged it within months.

She praised the governor for revisiting neglected infrastructure.

Community leaders, including the Olu of Ilaro, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, and Zonal Chairman of the Community Development Association, Alhaji Bashir, expressed gratitude.

They highlighted how the projects would alleviate flooding, reduce travel time, and integrate the border towns into Ogun State’s development.

Governor Abiodun reiterated his administration’s commitment to constructing more roads and creating an investor-friendly environment.

“This is only the beginning of our resolve to make Ogun State a beacon of infrastructure and progress,” he concluded.
