THE OYO State Government has started compensating property owners affected by development projects along the Ajia Inukan LCDA, Ona Ara Local Government Area.

On Monday, Mr. Williams Akin-Funmilayo, the Commissioner for Lands, Housing, and Urban Development, announced the commencement of these payments during a meeting with the claimants.

Akin-Funmilayo explained that the government recently acquired land for the construction of an Air Force Base, a General Hospital, and an ICT center in Ajia, Ona Ara Local Government Area.

To facilitate these projects, the government has allocated a total of N513,462,446.50 (Five hundred and thirteen million, four hundred and sixty-two thousand, four hundred- and forty-six-naira fifty kobo) in compensation to the affected property owners.

This compensation is part of the government’s efforts to maintain a positive relationship with the residents.

Akin-Funmilayo also noted that previous identification and verification exercises had been conducted to value the properties and prepare for these payments.

A beneficiary, Mr. Adedokun Olalekan expressed his appreciation to the State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde, for his concern and support for the people of Oyo State.
