A DECISIVE action has been taken by Polaris Bank to promote environmental sustainability by expanding its tree-planting initiative across Nigeria.

This ongoing campaign aligns with global efforts to restore ecosystems and mitigate climate change.

The latest exercise took place at Government Secondary School in Gwagwalada, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), on October 14, 2024.

Just days earlier, a similar event was held at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University in Anambra State.

This initiative is described as a part of Polaris Bank’s commitment to supporting the United Nations Decade on Ecosystem Restoration (2021–2030).

The bank’s focus is on restoring degraded lands and enhancing biodiversity, reflecting the theme of 2024 World Environment Day.

Speaking about the initiative, Osazuwa Igbinoba, Directorate Head for Abuja, emphasized that sustainability is central to Polaris Bank’s strategy.

The tree-planting efforts are aimed at restoring natural ecosystems and planting economic trees to ensure a lasting impact on future generations.

Polaris Bank has been conducting similar initiatives nationwide, including at Tai Solarin University, Ogun State, Ajingi Community Reserve in Kano, and the University of Ibadan, Oyo State.

These efforts highlight the bank’s dedication to promoting sustainable practices and environmental restoration.

Also, the bank’s approach integrates responsible banking with societal empowerment, grounded in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles.

The bank continues to inspire communities, educational institutions, and organizations to join the campaign for environmental preservation.
