FRESH DIPLOMATIC appointments advanced at the federal level as a new roster ofm32 ambassadorial nominees moved to the Senate for screening.
President Bola Tinubu transmitted the consolidated list of 32 envoy candidates to the Senate for confirmation, following the earlier submission of the first batch of three nominees.
In two separate letters addressed to the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, President Tinubu requested the expeditious consideration and confirmation of 15 career ambassadors and 17 non-career ambassadors.
The presidency stated that four women appear on the career ambassadors’ list, while six women are included among the non-career nominees.
Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga confirmed the submission in a statement issued on Saturday on 29 November 2025.

Onanuga added that the nominees are expected to be posted to countries with which Nigeria maintains significant and strategic bilateral relations, including China, India, South Korea, Canada, Mexico, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, South Africa, and Kenya.
Some will be assigned to Permanent Missions such as the United Nations, UNESCO, and the African Union.
The statement also recalled that the president had earlier sent three nominees, Ambassador Ayodele Oke (Oyo), Ambassador Amin Mohammed Dalhatu (Jigawa), and Retired Colonel Lateef Kayode Are (Ogun) whose potential postings include the United Kingdom (UK), the United States (US), or France.
President Tinubu stated that additional nominees for ambassadorial positions will be announced soon.
