GOVERNOR SIMINALAYI Fubara of Rivers State has selected experienced educators to lead two vital school boards.

He emphasized the need for a solid educational foundation, free from political influence, to ensure a prosperous future for the state.

On Friday, at the Government House in Port Harcourt, Governor Fubara inaugurated the chairmen and members of the Rivers State Senior Secondary Schools Board and the State Universal Basic Education Board (UBEB).

He expressed his commitment to transforming the state’s education system.

Fubara explained his careful selection process, highlighting the importance of the UBEB as the cornerstone of all educational development.

He stressed that mistakes at the basic education level would hinder future progress.

The Governor reiterated his administration’s focus on education, health, and agriculture for 2025.

He assured that these areas would receive attention through policy implementation and budget allocation.

He urged the board members to approach their roles with dedication.

He also expressed confidence in their ability to bring about positive changes in the education sector.

He particularly tasked Chief David Briggs, the UBEB Chairman, with maintaining and improving the existing standards.

The Governor also directed the State Senior Secondary Schools Board to initiate the long-delayed promotion exercise for teachers.

Dr. Sam Emejuru, the Chairman of the Senior Secondary Schools Board, thanked Governor Fubara for the opportunity to serve.

He promised efficient, diligent, and fair execution of their duties, aligning with the Governor’s passion for education.

Chief David Briggs, speaking for the UBEB, expressed gratitude and assured their commitment to the Governor’s vision for educational excellence in Rivers State.

Newly Inaugurated Members

The newly inaugurated members include Dr. Sam Emejuru, Mr. Francis Jacob, Dr. Grace Jaja, Mrs. Jemina Margaret Briggs, and Mrs. Love Aguma for the Senior Secondary Schools Board.

For the UBEB, members are Dr. David Briggs, Nwuke Anucha, Dr. Alom Anyanya Austin-Mba, Dr. Walson Ominini, and Mrs. Ibiere Pepple as secretary.

Govt Debunks Salary Claims

Separately, the Rivers State Government refuted online claims that Governor Fubara proposed a new minimum wage of N80,000 for civil servants.

The government labeled the report as false and misleading, urging the public to disregard it.
