Rivers Governor Promotes Inclusivity, Vows Support for Opposition Parties

RIVERS State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has said he is extending an olive branch to opposition parties while pledging unwavering support and promising to create a conducive climate for political dialogue and engagement.

He reiterated his commitment to fostering an egalitarian society where dissenting voices are not only heard but valued, making the remarks during a meeting with the leadership of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Rivers State chapter, at Government House in Port Harcourt.

Emphasizing the importance of constructive criticism in governance, Fubara assured opposition parties of their freedom to express opinions without fear of reprisal, saying, “Criticize me, I don’t have a problem with that. It is meant to spur me to do well.”

His gesture was met with appreciation from IPAC, with Barrister Sensei Solsuema Osaro, who told the governor the opportunity to collaborate was a good gesture for the betterment of Rivers State, noting that IPAC representing over 17 state chairmen of registered political parties, has made Governor Fubara its Grand Patron and Leader of the umbrella body.

In a separate meeting with the Bishops and Gospel Ministers’ Association International Incorporated, Rivers State chapter, the gesture of solidarity was affirmed by the governor as part of his commitment to peace and development.

The group acknowledged a positive shift from the state’s previous reputation of conflict to one of tranquility and progress, showcasing Fubara’s dedication, which they acknowledged as a signal to a promising path forward for their state, one defined by unity, progress and peace.
