IN A bid to strengthen its position in the oil and gas sector, the Rivers State government is fostering a business-friendly environment to ensure stronger partnerships with key industry players.

This initiative aims to drive growth in oil production and support the economic goals of the state.

A business meeting was held between the Rivers State Government and Oando Energy Resources Nigeria Ltd. to discuss plans for collaboration.

Oando, targeting major expansion, has outlined its goal to produce 1.5 billion standard cubic feet of gas and 100,000 barrels of oil per day within the next five years.

During a closed-door session at the Government House, Governor Siminalayi Fubara engaged with Oando’s Managing Director, Dr. Ainojie Alexander Irune, on strategies to boost operations.

Dr. Irune explained the importance of maintaining productive relationships with host communities to ensure the smooth operation of assets located within Oil Mining Leases (OMLs) 60, 61, 62, and 63.

Speaking after the meeting, Dr. Irune expressed satisfaction with the support offered by Governor Fubara, particularly recognizing Port Harcourt’s critical role in ensuring business stability.

He emphasized the value of working closely with stakeholders and host communities, noting that collaboration is key to achieving Oando’s ambitious targets.

Oando MD also highlighted the importance of creating a sustainable and supportive environment to facilitate their operations over the next few years, ensuring that the company’s efforts align with the development needs of Rivers State.
