CONFLICT IS an inevitable part of elections, as stakeholders often have competing interests. However, failure to address emerging conflicts can lead to crises with severe consequences.
In our tracking, political and electoral actors have consistently been the most vocal in discussing approaches to resolving conflicts ahead of the elections, more than other actors.
Our analysts observe that several factors could be adduced for this.
It might be that media organisations are telling us that political and electoral actors are more important than others by giving them more space and time to express their views. In addition, it suggests that the remaining actors do not find it worthy of discussing.
Despite this, our position remains that stakeholders should ensure the creation and sustenance of processes necessary for peaceful and credible elections in 2027.
