A COMPUTER-based test (CBT) has been scheduled for applicants in the ongoing Oyo State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) recruitment exercise.

The test will run from July 29 to August 2, 2024 according to the Chairman, Pastor Akinade Alamu, at a press conference in Ibadan.

A total of 62,000 applicants passed the application stage and will take the CBT.

This group includes 12,000 non-teaching applicants and 50,000 teaching applicants.

The recruitment exercise is being carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Establishment, Office of the Head of Service, and Ministry of Finance.

Pastor Alamu emphasized the commission’s commitment to a credible exercise.

He advised applicants not to rely on hearsay.

Applicants can access their specific test date and time through their portals.

The test will take place at the University of Ibadan Distance Learning Centre, Computer Based Testing Centre, Ajibode, Ibadan.

All applicants must print their CBT examination schedule and application print-out with a passport photo from the job portal.

These documents will be required for entry into the CBT hall.

Pastor Alamu stressed that applicants must adhere to their assigned time and date.

Loitering around the test center will not be tolerated.

Successful candidates from the CBT will proceed to an oral interview.

Pastor Alamu mentioned that the commission has made arrangements for necessities such as tents, chairs, ambulance services, and security for applicants.

Adjustments in CBT Examination

The Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board has adjusted its ongoing CBT examination schedule to accommodate Muslim candidates observing Friday Jummah prayers.

Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran, Chairman of the Board, announced that Muslim candidates scheduled for exams between 1.00pm and 3.00pm on Friday can take their exams after prayers.

Non-Muslim candidates will continue with their exams as scheduled.

Dr. Adeniran said he will personally supervise the exams and take a break for Jummah prayers.

FG Trains Master Trainers

The Federal Government has trained 56 Master Trainers for the Universal Basic Education (UBE) Effective Schools.

These trainers were selected from southern states, including Kwara and Kogi. UBEC Executive Secretary,

Dr. Hamid Bobboyi, announced this during a five-day training programme in Ibadan.

He said the programme aims to enhance educational quality and accessibility.

Dr. Bobboyi emphasized UBEC’s efforts to address the learning crisis and the high number of out-of-school children.

The programme targets 111 schools across Nigeria, including three in each senatorial zone and three in the FCT, as pilots.

The Master Trainers will train teachers in these schools.

The Effective School Programme aims to improve instructional tools and practices.

The initiative introduces new learning methods in UBEC E-learning centers.

The schools have been equipped with ICT equipment and alternative power supplies to support technology-based teaching and learning.

Smart Schools in Nigeria

UBEC has established 37 Smart Schools across Nigeria, with some already operational.

A Digital Resource Centre (DRC) has also been built.

The establishment of UBE effective schools aims to provide Nigerian children with resources for improved learning and 21st-century skills.

Dr. Bobboyi reaffirmed UBEC’s commitment to providing functional basic education.

Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran, Executive Chairman of OYOSUBEB, highlighted the Board’s efforts to implement the smart education system.

The Board is recruiting 7,000 digitally literate primary school teachers.

The Smart Schools will enhance UBE delivery by meeting and maintaining minimum standards.

Mr. Mayowa Aleshin, Director of Teachers’ Development at UBEC, said the UBE Effective Schools Programme represents a substantial investment in Nigeria’s educational future.

It aims to bridge learning gaps and create an environment where every child can thrive academically.

The event was attended by UBEC Coordinating Directors and Head Teachers of UBE Effective Schools.
