A NEW National Coordinator of the National Counter-Terrorism Centre, whose office is under the National Security Adviser, was appointed on Tuesday by President Bola Tinubu.

The presidential spokeswoman, Ajuri Ngelale, announced that Mr. Adamu Laka, as the new appointee, was charged with “effectively removing security threats through preemptive, proactive, and diligent counter-terrorism coordination.”

Adding to that, in the midst of the security challenge, Tinubu has expressed anticipation to see that the new National Coordinator will employ his vast experience as he executes his tasks diligently.

The newly appointed commander, Laka, has held a number of positions, including one in northeastern Nigeria, where he deployed tactical means to degrade terrorist groups.

He has also worked with the United Nations in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Sierra Leone during his prior assignment.

The new hire’s participation in the US AFRICOM exercise in Senegal with the Nigerian contingent was made public.

The statement states that Laka holds master’s degree in National Security from the National Defence University, Pakistan, and in International Affairs and Strategic Studies from the Nigerian Defence Academy.
