PRESIDENT BOLA Tinubu has left Yokohama, Japan, for Brazil to begin a state visit scheduled for August 24.
His departure took place on Thursday night, with a stopover planned in Los Angeles before he proceeds to Brasília, the capital of Brazil.
According to Bayo Onanuga, special adviser on information and strategy, the president’s journey forms the continuation of his two-nation visit that commenced on August 15.
He departed Abuja on that date, stopped briefly in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and arrived in Yokohama on August 18.
While in Japan, President Tinubu attended the ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9), an event initiated by the Japanese government and co-hosted by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the African Union Commission, and the World Bank.
The conference placed emphasis on Africa’s economic transformation, improvements in business environments, and institutional strengthening through private investment and innovation.
Onanuga confirmed that the president participated in the opening ceremony and plenary session on August 20.
The statement further noted that President Tinubu held bilateral meetings on the sidelines of TICAD9 and concluded his engagements in Japan with an interactive session with Nigerians in the diaspora on Thursday night before his departure.
