PRESIDENT BOLA Tinubu has expressed deep appreciation to the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) for their unanimous endorsement of the four Tax Reform Bills currently before the National Assembly.

He lauded the governors for prioritizing national interests over regional, ethnic, or political affiliations in advancing Nigeria’s economic development.

President Tinubu described Thursday’s consultation between the NGF and the Presidential Committee on Tax and Fiscal Policy as a milestone in fostering collaboration between the Federal and State governments.

He commended Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq, the NGF Chairman, for his leadership in galvanizing support among his peers for these transformative reforms aimed at rejuvenating the economy and enhancing the nation’s investment climate.

Acknowledging the bipartisan efforts of the Progressive Governors Forum, Northern Governors Forum, and other groups, President Tinubu noted that the consensus reached reflects the power of constructive dialogue in resolving differences.

He emphasized that the Tax Reform Bills, with a pro-poor focus, aim to update outdated tax laws, strengthen economic competitiveness, and attract local and foreign investments.

The President also urged stakeholders to engage with the legislative process at the National Assembly, offering suggestions to refine the bills.

In a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, the President encouraged lawmakers to expedite the process, ensuring Nigeria swiftly reaps the benefits of the reforms.

Reaffirming his commitment to economic growth, peace, and stability, Tinubu also described the governors as pivotal partners in nation-building and vowed to maintain a cooperative partnership with them to advance Nigeria’s prosperity.
