UNITED STATES President Donald J. Trump has issued a stark warning to Iran on Wednesday, saying the U.S. will only consider a ceasefire request if Tehran guarantees full access to the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
JKNewsMedia.com reports that the US President’s remarks, shared by the The White House via X, reflected a hardline position amid escalating tensions in the Gulf.
Trump revealed that Iran’s newly elected president had reached out seeking a ceasefire, describing him as “much less radicalised and far more intelligent than his predecessors.”
However, he made clear that any pause in hostilities hinges on immediate changes in the critical oil corridor.
‘We will consider’ – but with conditions, Trump asserts.
According to Trump, Washington would only entertain negotiations once the Strait of Hormuz is “open, free, and clear.”
Until then, he warned, US military operations would continue.
In a strongly worded message, the president said the United States is “blasting Iran into oblivion or, as they say, back to the Stone Ages,” signalling no immediate de-escalation despite diplomatic overtures.

Global oil route at centre of tensions
The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most vital transit chokepoints, handling a significant share of global oil shipments.
As such, any disruption in the narrow waterway has immediate ripple effects on international energy markets, often driving up fuel prices worldwide.
As it stands, Trump’s stance suggests Washington is prioritising maritime security and energy stability over rapid diplomatic engagement.
Pressure on allies
In a separate message earlier in the week, Trump urged countries facing fuel shortages due to disruptions in the Strait to source supplies independently.
He advised nations to “buy from the U.S., we have plenty,” while criticising allies he said failed to support Washington during the standoff with Iran.
President Trump also singled out the United Kingdom (UK) for declining to join US-led efforts and warned that American military support would no longer be guaranteed.
“You’ll have to start learning how to fight for yourself. The U.S.A. won’t be there to help you anymore,” he said.
Conflict impact and outlook
Also, Trump said Iran had already suffered significant damage in the ongoing conflict, stating that “the hard part is done,” while urging other countries to “go get your own oil.”
He also indicated that that the U.S. is maintaining military pressure while setting conditions for any potential ceasefire tied to the Strait of Hormuz.
He also added that the situation around the Strait of Hormuz remains tense, with continued concerns over possible disruptions to global oil shipments.
