A HIGH-level meeting in Paris brought President Bola Ahmed Tinubu face-to-face with a senior official from President Donald J. Trump’s administration, Mr. Massad Boulos, who serves as Senior Advisor for Africa at the US State Department.

The Thursday engagement underscored the United States’ renewed push to forge a strategic partnership with Nigeria rooted in shared prosperity, regional stability, and mutual respect.

Representing President Trump, Boulos conveyed a clear message: Washington sees Nigeria not only as a vital gateway to Africa but as a central pillar in future US engagement across the continent.

The conversation spanned trade, energy, infrastructure, and private sector investment, with an emphasis on boosting job creation and sustainable development.

President Tinubu welcomed the overtures, reaffirming Nigeria’s commitment to transparency, equitable opportunity, and productive international partnerships.

Security also dominated the agenda. Both delegations exchanged perspectives on stabilising flashpoints such as the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo and the Sahel region.

Boulos acknowledged Nigeria’s pivotal leadership in Africa, lauding President Tinubu’s proactive efforts in peace and security diplomacy.

The meeting closed on firm footing, with both sides aligned on the need for tangible, cooperative initiatives that reflect Africa’s growing importance on the global stage.
