NIGERIA’s DELEGATION to the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York (NY) will be led by Vice President Kashim Shettima on the directive of President Bola Tinubu, GCFR.
The gathering will take place from Monday, 22 September to Sunday, 28 September 2025.
Senator Shettima will participate in activities marking the 80th anniversary of the United Nations on Monday, 22 September, at the UN headquarters in New York.
He will also join other world leaders for the high-level general debates scheduled to run from Tuesday, 23 September to Sunday, 28 September.
On behalf of President Tinubu, the Vice President is scheduled to deliver Nigeria’s national statement on Wednesday, 24 September, between 3:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., New York time.
The Vice President will further represent the country at a special event on Climate for Heads of State and Government, convened by the UN Secretary-General on Wednesday, 24 September, between 2:00 p.m. and 6:00pm.

At the event, Nigeria will announce its new Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) under the Paris Agreement.
In addition, Senator Shettima will attend a high-level roundtable of the Global Champions on Adequate and Affordable Housing to be hosted by the President of Kenya on 24 September.
He is also scheduled to participate in other bilateral meetings and engagements during the assembly.
Following the conclusion of UNGA, the Vice President will proceed to Frankfurt, Germany, for a meeting with officials of Deutsche Bank before returning to Nigeria.
