LOCKDOWN MEASURES were enforced at the White House on Monday following a shooting at 15th Street and Independence Avenue in Washington, D.C.

JKNewsMedia.com reports that journalists at the scene reported the incident occurred shortly before President Donald Trump’s scheduled press conference.

Susan Crabtree of RealClearPolitics stated that Secret Service Uniformed Division officers shot a man they believed might have been armed near the White House ahead of the briefing.

“When the @SecretService officers confronted the man, it went sideways, and they ended up shooting him,” Crabtree wrote on X.

The US Secret Service confirmed the involvement of law enforcement in the shooting. “One individual was shot by law enforcement; their condition is currently unknown.

Please avoid the area as emergency crews are responding,” the agency said in a statement.

Megan Cassell, a CNBC photojournalist, reported that journalists were evacuated from their camera positions as the situation unfolded.

“We’re now gathering in the briefing room. No indication as to what’s going on,” Cassell said, sharing a photo of people gathered together.

Alan Fisher of Al Jazeera later reported that the alert was lifted and journalists were directed back into the briefing room.

Authorities have not released details regarding the suspect or the motive behind the incident.

The development follows an earlier attempted attack on President Trump at the White House Correspondents’ dinner. Cole Tomas Allen, 31, has been charged with terrorism offences in connection with that case.
