THE NATIONAL Examinations Council (NECO) has announced the release of the 2025 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) results, with 60.26 percent of candidates recording at least five credits including English Language and Mathematics.
The Registrar of the Council, Professor Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, made the disclosure on Wednesday at NECO headquarters in Minna, Niger State.
He explained that 818,492 candidates achieved five credits and above, including the core subjects of English and Mathematics, which are required for admission into tertiary institutions.
According toProfessor Wushishi, 1,144,496 candidates, representing 84.26 per cent, obtained five credits and above irrespective of English and Mathematics.
He noted that the total number of candidates who registered for the 2025 SSCE was 1,367,210, comprising 685,514 males and 681,696 females.

Out of this number, 1,358,339 candidates sat for the examination, with 680,292 males and 678,047 females taking part.
Professor Wushishi highlighted that the participation figures showed near gender balance across the country, underscoring a consistent trend of equitable enrolment in the examination.
He added that details on examination malpractice cases and withheld results would be released after the council concludes its investigations.
