VALUED AT N936 billion, Delta State’s 2025 budget plan has received official approval, signaling a major investment across critical sectors.

With N587.4 billion (62.75%) allocated for capital expenditure, the plan prioritizes infrastructure development, including healthcare, education, youth empowerment, and agriculture.

The remaining N348.7 billion (37.25%) will cover recurrent expenses.

State Commissioner for Economic Planning, Mr. Sonny Ekedayen, clarified the budget operates on a N1,300 exchange rate per dollar.

During a briefing alongside key commissioners, he highlighted that Delta would rely on federal allocations and expects N140 billion in internally generated revenue to fully fund the budget without incurring debt.

Emphasizing strict oversight, the Executive Council instructed ministry heads and commissioners to ensure project quality across sectors.

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori approved several key road constructions, such as the rehabilitation of Ugwhrughelli/Ehidi Road and new routes in Ughelli North and Asaba, among others.

Long-delayed projects face termination for non-performance.

Commissioner for Riverine Infrastructure, Hon. Ebikeme Clark, announced funding for critical educational projects, including road access to the Nigerian Maritime University.

In rural and riverine areas, infrastructure upgrades will aim to boost economic activity and community access, aligning with the state’s mission to open new opportunities.

Newly appointed officials, including traditional rulers, were also confirmed.

This 2025 plan marks Delta State’s commitment to growth and development across multiple fronts, ensuring inclusivity and economic sustainability.
