GOVERNOR SHERIFF Oborevwori’s administration in Delta State has committed to blacklisting contractors who fail to adhere to project standards set by the Bill of Engineering Measurement and Evaluation.

This decision emphasizes the government’s dedication to quality infrastructure across Delta State, with stringent project monitoring in place.

Contractors are warned to deliver standard work as the state remains vigilant in its oversight.

Governor Oborevwori emphasized that Delta has initiated payments of the new minimum wage, underscoring a commitment to workers’ welfare.

Speaking at the 70th birthday of Delta Civil Service Commission Chair Roseline Amioku in Osubi, the governor highlighted ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure, especially in Warri.

He assured the audience that Delta’s projects remain funded without additional borrowing, a testament to fiscal responsibility.

Oborevwori urged clerics to continue praying for Nigeria’s leadership, citing the difficult economic climate.

“Delta remains united, regardless of party lines,” he noted, addressing a diverse gathering of officials.

He also issued a stern warning to employees abroad who remain on payroll; such cases of “wage fraud” will no longer be tolerated.

The governor acknowledged the burden of managing a wage bill that includes over 80,000 state, local government, and teaching staff.

With the new minimum wage payment underway, Oborevwori thanked Deltans, assuring them that the state would continue its support.

He called on citizens to contribute to Delta’s growth, highlighting the administration’s zero tolerance for wastefulness and substandard work.

In his sermon, Catholic Bishop Most Rev. Anthony Ewherido encouraged hope amid economic hardships, emphasizing faith in a brighter future.
