OGUN STATE Government has been applauded by the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) for clearing all outstanding National Housing Fund (NHF) deductions owed to its workforce.
The bank described the gesture as signalling a renewed commitment to workers’ welfare and federal housing initiatives.
FMBN Executive Director of Finance and Corporate Services, Mr Ibidapo Odojukan, delivered the commendation during a courtesy visit to the Head of Service in Abeokuta.
The visit formed part of the bank’s zonal meetings across the South-West.
Odojukan acknowledged Ogun’s full settlement of NHF arrears, noting that the gesture reinforced the state’s dedication to the bank’s nationwide mandate and the wellbeing of its citizens.
He described the development as a clear demonstration of the value placed on workers by the Abiodun-led administration.
The visit also highlighted ongoing engagement between both parties to deepen institutional collaboration.
Odojukan outlined the bank’s renovation loan scheme, which has helped many beneficiaries complete their homes, and expressed hope that more Ogun State workers would now access FMBN’s offerings.
Responding, the Head of Service, Mr Kehinde Onasanya, recognised FMBN as a crucial partner in addressing housing deficits.
He confirmed that Ogun had cleared all NHF remittance backlogs, positioning workers to pursue home ownership under the national scheme.
Onasanya revealed that the state had secured hectares of land at Ijemo/Onisela along the Abeokuta–Kobape corridor for a dedicated civil service housing initiative named the Prince Dapo Abiodun Bureaucrats’ Estate. Allocation of plots for the first phase is nearing completion.
He urged FMBN to support the new scheme and ensure state workers benefit from a full suite of its housing products. Onasanya reaffirmed Ogun’s commitment to affordable housing under the ISEYA agenda, citing the delivery of more than 4,000 units for mid- and high-income earners across the state.
