Federal Workers Begin Receiving N35,000 Wage Award Arrears

PAYMENT OF long-awaited N35,000 wage award arrears to federal workers has commenced, following confirmation from the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF).

According to an official statement released on Monday by Bawa Mokwa, spokesperson for the OAGF, the payment process is underway after the office received appropriate clearance and confirmation for disbursement.

The clarification follows reports falsely attributed to Accountant-General, Babatunde Ogunjimi, alleging that the N35,000 wage award was excluded from the 2025 budget, valued at ₦54.99 trillion.

The Office firmly denied that Ogunjimi made any such public statement.

Reiterating the government’s commitment, the OAGF stated that the arrears would be disbursed in five equal instalments of ₦35,000 each, aligning with the administration’s promise to support public servants amid ongoing economic pressures.

He noted that the wage award, previously delayed, forms part of a broader effort by the federal government to ease the burden on workers and enhance morale across ministries, departments, and agencies.

    Is this what’s happening or they are just making a media statement? May be we need to ask those Federal workers if they had received the money.
